Poems worth waiting for

By James J. Metcalfe

Freedom Forever

Although our wars have left their scars... As we have fought our
way... We still are free to celebrate... Our Independence Day
... Our stripes are still the colonies... Our stars reflect the states
... That tolerate no tyranny ... And have no use for hates... Our
nation is united in... The cause for freedom true... As much as
human liberty... Is dear to me and you... And so Old Glory
waves today... And we are glad and proud... And we have every
right to march... And sing our praise out loud... And as we
pause our labor now... To celebrate this day... We hope our
polls will always keep... Our democratic way.
